This page is maintained by the Scriba team to explain what data we collect, why we collect it, and the controls you have. If anything here is unclear, email hello@scriba.study.
Data we collect
- Account data: email, name, and hashed password (managed by our authentication provider).
- Your Content: the courses, syllabi, cases, notes, briefs, flashcards, and outlines you create.
- Usage data: minimal metadata about how you use the app (e.g. save timestamps) to power features like version history and study streaks.
- Billing data: we store a customer identifier and subscription status. Card numbers are handled entirely by our payment provider.
How we use your data
- To provide the Service and keep it running.
- To sync your notes across your devices.
- To power AI features you invoke (only the content you send is transmitted to the model).
- To send you transactional emails (password resets, billing receipts).
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not train third-party AI models on Your Content.
- We do not use your notes to advertise to you.
Subprocessors
- Supabase (managed by Lovable Cloud) — database, authentication, storage.
- Google (via Lovable AI Gateway) — LLM inference for AI features.
- Payment provider — subscription billing.
Retention & deletion
We keep Your Content while your account is active. Version snapshots are kept for 30 days. You can delete individual items from within the app. On account deletion we remove your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Your rights
You can request an export or deletion of your account data at any time by emailing hello@scriba.study. If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR / CCPA including access, correction, and portability.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is scoped per-user via row-level security — one user's notes are never returned to another account.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics without your consent.
