Scriba runs on a subscription model with a mandatory 7-day free trial at the start of every new plan. We use the trial in place of refunds — it is the window during which you can decide whether Scriba is right for you.
1. The 7-day free trial
- Every new subscription — monthly and annual — begins with 7 days of full access at no charge.
- You must add a valid payment method to start the trial. You are not charged until the trial ends.
- We email you two days before your trial ends so you can cancel if Scriba isn't for you.
- You can cancel any time during the trial from Settings → Billing → Manage billing. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged.
2. No refunds after the trial
Once your trial converts to a paid subscription, all charges are final. We do not offer refunds — partial, prorated, or otherwise — for:
- Unused portions of a monthly or annual billing period.
- Cancellations after the trial has ended.
- Accidental renewals — please cancel before the renewal date to avoid the next charge.
- Deactivating or deleting your account mid-cycle.
You may cancel at any time from your billing portal. Cancellation stops future charges and revokes access at the end of your current period.
3. Exceptions
We will consider refunds only in these narrow cases:
- Duplicate charge. If our system charged you twice for the same period, email us and we will refund the duplicate.
- Unauthorized charge. If someone charged your card for Scriba without your permission, email us and we will investigate and refund verified fraud.
- Statutory rights. Where local consumer-protection law requires a refund we cannot contract around (for example, certain EU or UK statutory rights), we will honor it.
4. Chargebacks
If you dispute a charge with your bank before contacting us, we may suspend your account until the dispute is resolved. Please email us first — most billing questions are faster to fix directly than through a chargeback.
5. How to cancel
- Open Scriba and go to Settings → Billing.
- Click Manage billing to open the Stripe portal.
- Choose Cancel plan.
You'll keep access until the end of the current billing period, and your notes remain exportable from Settings even after cancellation.
